Starting Toviaz therapy

Getting started

Remember that the sooner you start, the sooner the medicine can start to work.

  • If you already have a prescription for Toviaz, be sure to get it filled.
  • If your doctor has given you a free sample of Toviaz, it's a good idea to fill your prescription before the sample runs out so you don't miss a dose.
  • If you don't have a prescription for Toviaz, consider talking to your doctor to see if Toviaz is right for you.
  • If your doctor prescribes Toviaz, you may qualify for special savings offers.

How to take Toviaz

  • Take Toviaz as prescribed by your doctor. The recommended dosage is one pill, once a day. It can be taken at any time of day, but you should take Toviaz at the same time every day. Toviaz can be taken with or without food — whichever is easier for you. Just be sure to take it with liquid. And don't chew, divide, or crush it.
  • To remember to take Toviaz, it may help to associate it with something in your daily routine. Consider taking it before you read the paper, watch the news, get dressed or get ready for bed, or eat a meal.
  • Give the medicine time to work. Remember, everyone is different. You may see some improvement in the first couple of weeks, with further improvement over 12 weeks. So be sure to give yourself enough time to see how Toviaz may work for you. If you don't see any results after several weeks, talk to your doctor or nurse.
  • If you miss a dose of Toviaz, begin taking Toviaz again the next day. Do not take 2 doses of Toviaz in the same day.
  • Tell your doctor if you are on any other medications before you begin taking Toviaz. Be sure to mention prescription and over-the-counter medicines, as well as vitamins and herbal supplements.
  • Medicines like Toviaz can cause blurred vision, drowsiness, and decreased sweating. Use caution when driving, doing unsafe tasks, or in especially hot environments until you know how Toviaz affects you. Drinking alcohol while taking medicines such as Toviaz may cause increased drowsiness.

Remember to read the Patient Information and talk to your doctor if you have any questions.
