How Toviaz is thought to treat OAB symptoms
OAB is a bladder condition in which you may experience sudden and overwhelming urges to urinate that may lead to leaks. OAB can also make you go to the bathroom too often.
OAB happens when the bladder muscle starts squeezing to push urine out before you’re ready to go — even if your bladder isn’t full. These contractions can create strong sudden urges to go, which can lead to leaks.
Toviaz is thought to work by keeping the bladder from squeezing as often. That may help calm the bladder muscle, preventing it from contracting when it’s not supposed to. Toviaz can help reduce OAB symptoms like leaks, strong sudden urges to go, and going too often.
If you have certain stomach problems, glaucoma, or cannot empty your bladder, you should not take Toviaz.
Toviaz may cause allergic reactions that may be serious. If you experience swelling of the face, lips, throat, or tongue, stop taking Toviaz and get emergency medical help right away.

Medicines like Toviaz can cause blurred vision, drowsiness, and decreased sweating. Use caution when driving, doing unsafe tasks, or in especially hot environments, until you know how Toviaz affects you. Drinking alcohol while taking medicines such as Toviaz may cause increased drowsiness.
The most common side effects are dry mouth and constipation.
